Catechins in Green Tea

Camellia sinensis,which people popularly drink in the form of green tea,is a beverage that people use throughout the Orient. People in Asians average about five
cups a day, and the drink—hot or cold—makes them feel good.. Green tea
contains epigallocatechin gallate, which nutritional chemists commonly call
“polyphenolic catechins.” These catechins are free-radical quenchers that
inhibit the growth of cancer and lower people’s blood cholesterol.
What’s more, green tea catechins have shown powerful anticarcinogenic
effects against liver and throat malignancies. If people drink it on a
regular basis in substantial amounts, as folks do in countries of the Pacific Rim,
green tea might offer substantial anticancer protection.
