For professional help in choosing the best alternative and/or conventional treatments for a specific type of cancer, contact one of the organizations below. You can discuss your situation and get recommendations from their network of doctors, scientists and researchers. Prices generally range from $200 to $500.

The patient may choose to travel and visit one or more of the doctors or therapists who prepared the report, or stay in his or her local area and visit a doctor or practitioner open to using those recommendations.

The Moss Report. Ralph W. Moss, Ph.D. has written eleven books and produced three film documentaries on the question of cancer research and treatment including the books "Questioning Chemotherapy" and "Cancer Therapy". The former Director of Public Information at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for many years, Moss has evaluated hundreds of cancer treatments, conventional and alternative, and is a strong believer in alternative treatments. People Against Cancer. PAC is a non-profit organization founded 15 years ago to research and promote successful, little-used alternative cancer treatments. After a patient submits medical records and fills out a thorough questionnaire, the information is reviewed by their network of associated doctors and practitioners from around the world who have successfully treated a similar condition. A written report based on their recommendations is prepared, one copy is sent to the patient and one copy to his or her doctor. The price is $450. CanHelp. CanHelp provides detailed reports based on the cancer patient's medical history and then suggests the type of treatment most beneficial, again, conventional or alternative. Their director, Patrick McGrady PhD spent 20+ years with the American Cancer Society and left to be a consultant for conventional and alternative treatments. The Health Resource.  Founded by Janice Guthrie, a former cancer patient. This organization provides individualized, in-depth,  up to the minute research reports regarding a patient's health problem. Reports vary in length from 110-150 pages and include traditional and alternative treatments. Costs range from $225 plus shipping expenses, depending on the type of report. Full guarantee is in effect.

The Commonweal Cancer Help Program. Although not quite a referral agency like the above, this ten year old program founded by Michael Lerner, author of "Healing Choices", deserves mentioning. Commonweal has developed an unusual but highly effective self-help retreat program at several locations lasting 6 weeks. Cost: about $1500. Information regarding the most successful alternative and conventional therapies is provided. The program, now with a waiting list, allows the patient to balance and strengthen mind, body and the emotions to fight cancer.
